I finally made a decision, and it is due to the massive bubble in my tire that needs to be fixed.
Falken Wheel Hanabi (Silver)Falken Ziex Ze 912Due to the fact that Edge racing didnt have the specs for the accent we had to use the specs of the scion Xa. They will be here in a week and I will have them on the car w/pictures within the next 2 weeks. The bf found them and showed me because he thought i would hate the Enkeis WDM's with the chrome lip. Not to mention he thought the black would be horrible with my color.
The Falkens are WAY lighter at 11lbs, and the silver would look better on my car. Believe me the bf tried to talk me into the bronze ones but i just cant see my car with them.
I'll be looking into selling my stock 16's, although they are all scratched up on the edge of the rims due to horrible hwy conditions when driving to and from the bay in the summer time. If I cant sell them then i will recycle the metal. The dealership sells them for about 300.00 a pop so of course i would be selling them WAY cheaper then that and include shipping. Since my bf works FedEx he gets like 75% off shipping costs.
I'm not sure on the stock Kumho's. Other then the bubble in the one tire, all the tires still have really good tread since i drive 90% hwy. Although i would be iffy buying used tires so i may just dispose of them. If anyone one here would be interested then let me know.
Anyways, tell me what you guys think of the decision =)

Allright, with all the 20 MPG horror stories on this forum, I was a bit worried about my newest acquisition - 2008 Accent (total base - only power steering and nothing else, not even a radio). However, I was pleasantly surprised when I fueled up today. Here's the break-down.
Total miles on the vehicle 622.00 (brand new car - less than a week old)
Low fuel light at 333.06 miles (536 Kms)
Fuel up at 344.01 miles (554 Kms)
Gallons - 9.865
Mileage - 34.86 MPGs. Achieved with driving slower than posted speed limit of 65 MPH, accelerating gently, and coasting in neutral. (Don't know if it really had any effect on economy, but I tried it anyway). So far, I love this car. Looking forward to better MPGs in the future when the break in finally occurs.

So, I have a 2007 Hyundai Accent. I have had it for about 5 months now. I have done a few things to it as dropping it, putting a new intake, synthetic oil and such. So, one day I was driving to work and I approach a stoplight. And guess what decides to pull up next to me? A Red Honda Civic. I am pretty sure it was a 94-96. He starts to rev his engine. So, as soon as the light turns green we go all out! But unfortunately I miss my second gear everyone. :-(. He pulled away. I got my butt destroyed by a civic.
I really have no idea how I missed my second gear. It is simply straight down! ARGHH! Maybe I was just under pressure. I am a disgrace to all Accent Owners! Haha. Anyone else have racing stories?
Oh! And does anyone think that Accent could take Civics on a realistic level. No turbo.

I have a squeaking so of course my first instinct is to call... my mom!
She comes from a family of mechanics and she always does her own work on her cars. So I call her and tell her my issue. The car makes a continuous low squeaking sound while the car is running, in all gears. the sound even stays consistent when accelerating and in idle.
My mom suggested it is an alternator belt that may only need to be tightened. She explained to me that as seasons change the belts of a car gets lose and can make a squeak sound. although, since she wasn't there to listen herself, she couldn't tell me for sure that it could be another belt.
So my next call was my local dealership. I talked to a service tech, and he tells me it sounds like a drive belt and that will cost 170.00 to fix if that is the issue. Belts are not covered under warranty since it is routine maintenance. When I told him can we tighten the belts to see if that fixes the issue, he told me they would want to replace them because tightening it would only buy some time. To me, time could be another 10,000 miles so i want to try that first.
Now I know if the belts are only lose, they can be tightened, but most mechanics don't take women seriously when it comes to a car, and i felt he did just that. My boyfriend works full time graveyards and goes to school full time. The time of my appointment is during the few hours he can sleep so he can't go to make sure they don't do any unneeded work.
I would take it to my moms and have her tighten the belts to see if it fixes it, but she refuses to touch it because of my warranty.
What do i do?! Does anyone else have any suggestions on what it could be?

OK the wifes car started today. (06' Accent) It always starts. But today was different.
She went to start it and it turned over one cycle...paused...then continued to turn over and start. Kind of hard to describe. Turn the key and it goes whirr..........whirr,whirr, whirr, ignition. Not a steady starter motor turning cycle.
So she told me about it and I tried it. It did the same thing to me twice.
So we decided to take it to the dealer and drop it off.
She's convinced it won't do it for them, as it started normally upon taking it to the dealer.
What does this sound like to you? Starter? Battery?, etc...
I'm also wondering what kind of diagnostic they will do to tell if there really is something wrong if it does not perform the problem for them.
Thanks everyone.

My Accent is the base model with the cheaper interior so the door panel does not include the piece with a speaker grille where the tweeter goes on the nicer trims. It does have a plastic filler piece there exactly the same size though. I was wondering if there is a place that sells the piece with the tweeter grille in it I can pop in there, or is it more of something I need to chase down at the yard?

so i have a few mods on the go.
1) blue LED's in all the vents and under the dash. looking sweet so far. i have two in each of the innner vents, one in the outter vents one in the de-fogger vents (liooks kick **** but i have to find a way to decrease the window reflection). im still on the fence as to if i want to put four more in or not. its just finding places to put them im having trouble with. any suggestions??? oh and i have them on my fog light switch so if i get pulled over, no prob just turn them off!
2) yesterday i pulled out the mesh part of the stock grille. took forever i honestly think them koreans didnt want the grille to come off! i ended up cuting off most of the supports. the only part i kept was the hyundai bracing part and the top. that way its strong and looks stock. i moved the horn down cuse it looks stupid where it was. i havent had time to buy mesh yet. the fed back ive gotten is i should buy standard mesh and leave it silver, dunno yet. im thinking about the bottom oem grille where the fog lights are. im just not sure if the fog lights are supported buy that part of the grille. any one with HID's know?? i dont wanna waste my time... and hate koreans more from the upper grille lol
3) who has relocated the battery???? i want to put mine in the spare tire compartment. how did you folks do it and how did you run the power cable, what gage??? also, who did there own sri install??? what did you do wit the ecu??? ive tride on a number of occasions to play with stuff there becasue im trying to map out a cai for the 07 and 08's.
4) up next on the schedule is to mount my MTX amp under the passenger seat and run all the wires. then build a custom box for the hatch compartment. im thinkin a trapezoid vented. really thin but covering the whole length beteween the wheel wells and agaisnt the seat to conserve space. lol then a horn upgade!!! man i hate that girly horn. im thinkin a chevy truck horn out of a junk yard. paint the calipers and drums. dark blue and hopfully if i can find the paint, metalic. if those gage pods get done soon, them. and thats all i have planned for now. all in all a month of staying late at work.
thanks for reading and giving me feed back
P.S. pictures pictures pictures!!!! i will, i promise!! just as soon as i get my new 5 mega pixle phone, so pumped!!!

OK so yesterday we took in our 06' GLS to the dealer for a battery/starter issue.
While its there I told the guy to check the tranny for its cold shift characteristics.
I asked him when Hyundai recommends a tranny service. He stated that at 30,000 miles Hyundai recommends a Tranny Flush and fill, Coolant flush, and Spark Plugs.
The price for these 3 items...drumroll please....................................$575.00.
I almost lost it!
I've been doing auto service on my own vehicles for 20+ years, and the cost of that type of service is outrageous.
First off, to flush a cooling system is very easy to do.
And at 30K a simple drain and refill should be all it needs. Not a full flush. But you can get a flush kit at any auto parts store for 2 bucks.
The tranny only holds 6.8 quarts of fluid. And to flush is easy. Simply drain pan. Refill. Disconnect the oil return line and start car in "N". Have old Tranny oil dispense into a container and add more new fluid as needed until it comes out the cooler line fresh and new. If you really want, you can drop the pan and replace the filter for $14.00 and get a new gasket.
Plugs?..........C'mon.

removable?
[cd player]
[cubby hole]
is the rectangular cubby an insert that can be removed?
i'd ideally like to pop it out to help run a wire for my scangauge as well as drill/cut a hole in it for a wire pass through & insert some foam to support the scanguage. it's a useless hole at the moment, may as well mount my scangauge there.

Anyone know how to program a key fob?
I need to get one. And does anyone know how much they cost from the dealer as well.
I know on my mazda there is a procedure with the ignition key, and that the cars ECU actually programs itself to the fob.
So if anyone has insight on this, please let me know.
thanks.

Hello Accent brethren,
My father-in-law's 06 2-door Accent had its driver side outer door handle ripped/pried/broken off by some ****. I'm pretty sure it was an attempt to steal since there is a slight dent on the door where the screwdriver(?) went in.
I will be calling the dealer shortly to find out how much a replacement costs but I thought I'd put it out here and see if any of you know of other places where I can grab one. Ebay turned up nothing.
Many thanks in advance!

If i am driving at 60+ MPH and roll up my window it will not seal. When i stop and roll it back down and then back up it seals fine. Anyone else have this issue? I see where the weather stripping is binding, and if i try to roll up at 30-45 MPH i get a snap sound before the window seals.

I went to get an oil change (from a non dealership) and they told me that when they were checking the Power Steering Fluid that it was the wrong kind of fluid in there. The fluid in there they said was transmission fluid (which was red) and that for my model (2007 accent) the power steering fluid is suppose to be clear and for older accent models you can use transmission fluid in it. So i got them to change and i feel that i have to turn my wheels more than before?
Were they right about the type of fluid im suppose to have in there? or did i get ripped off?
any feedback would be appreciated!

MODERATORS - I ENCOURAGE YOU TO STICKY THIS, AS IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO CONSUMERS WHO MAY BE PURCHASING PRODUCTS UNDER FALSE PRETENSES.HIDreview.com - the entire McCulloch research article write-upHey all! As some of you know, I used to own BuyXenon.com. I sold that business, and I now have
HIDreview.com -- I started out on a trek to find out where I could purchase McCulloch (or Philips, or Osram, or Sylvania) kits, bulbs, ballasts, etc. Now, normally with any brand - there is at LEAST one master distributor that a business can go to, to resell their kits. It's interesting, because I couldnt FIND A SINGLE ONE FOR ANY OF THOSE BRANDS!
HIDreview.com - the entire McCulloch research article write-upWant to know why? *NONE* of those corporations label their HID products for resale, or sale to, any consumer in the US. The proof is in e-mails and phone calls I made to McCulloch. I'll be posting my exact findings as I put the write-ups together for Philips, Osram, and Sylvania. All of which confirm they DO NOT sell or distribute their HID products for sale to consumers in the US.
HIDreview.com - the entire McCulloch research article write-upBuyer beware! If you see McCulloch kits, Philips, etc being sold - they ARE NOT from those companies! Go ahead... check out my write-up. I have all the proof there. Any of you merchants out there that want to contradict my findings - I welcome you to contact me. In fact - I encourage it! I'm sure FMVSS would love to know you're selling HID kits under false brands.
All - I'm only trying to help you be aware. If you still choose to buy those kits at $300+... feel free.

OK this is driving me CRAZY!! Whenever it's cold outside and warm inside the car (heater on) the back driver side window creaks. It almost sounds as if the whole darn window is going to fall out! And just a few weeks ago the passenger back window has just joined in a creaking duet. I'm going nuts. It's SO annoying the stereo can't even drown it out! I still haven't been able to time it so a freind can ride in the back. It seems whenever someone is available, it's warm outside, and the windows don't make a peep.
Anyone having this problem?

So i took some time and changed the lights in the gauge cluster to white, i only changed the ODO, Speed, and Tach, and left the rest as it. The change is fricken awesome!! my only complaint is that the 4 LEDS in the ODO are EXTREMELY visable i tried to get the LEDS as close to the board as I could, about midway through I discovered a new technique to soldering them and i'm actually going to go through and do them again. I'll post some pics tomorrow of the hopefully finished project.
I'd like to do the temp gauges next but I have no idea how the **** to remove the panle. also small things like the dimmer switch and buttons on the door i'd like to change as well

alright,
So I just bought an '07 3dr accent SE hatch. Love the car so far.

I saw a previous post on how to get the stereo out, so I think I'm good on that.
However, I didn't see any posts on how to get the door panels off for a power window door in order to replace the front speakers, and how to replace the rear speakers.
Forgive me, I literally walked off the lot about 5 hours ago.

It's already dark, and I wasn't able to find my flashlight, so if the answers are really straight forward and obvious, sorry.
Also, if anyone has done their own wiring, perhaps you can give me some tips on how to get the door sills off, so I can tuck my sub wiring underneath them and out of plain sight? Also perhaps a tip on how to get some wiring through from the battery to underneath the feet?
Thanks guys!
p.s. my girlfriend had an 02' accent, which I did all the wiring and re-speakering for. Let me know if it's anything similar to that.

Just wanting to see what you guys are doing for transmission fluid changes on your automatics...
The owner's manual (on my '06 at least) calls for 105,000 miles under normal conditions, 30,000 miles for "severe" driving conditions. I'm definitely not interested in running it the 105,000 miles, I'd rather change the fluid sooner instead of changing the whole transmission since that's probably what will happen if I let it run that long.
What's a good time to change it? I'll probably change it sometime in the near future (at 35K now.) Just a drain and fill with Hyundai SPIII for now, nothing special. For now, at 35K it shifts alright and the fluid doesn't appear to be in too bad of shape. But I have to keep this car for several more years, so I want it to last me...

I have an 07 Accent, and i am getting (with ~ 10,000 miles) 27-30 highway mpg. I have heard about letting the car "break-in" and all that, but this is a lot (IMO) less than what the sticker says. I called the local dealership, and spoke with the service advisor. He told me that this was fixed in 2008 models by changing the paperwork to say 27 and 32. I did not buy a 2008, i bought a 2007 and i do not think it is right to "fool" the consumer this way. I am not bashing or being a troll, but i just was wondering if anyone was doing anything about this. I tried a Better business complaint, emails, and i have a letter ready.
I know that buying this car and expecting the exact sticker MPG is not the best thing, but both of my previous cars (Fords) were with in 1 to 2 MPG on average with the sticker.
thoughts!

not i.
finance manager was pretty annoyed that i wasn't buying any dealer add ons or warranty items.
i figured with the warranty they offer, and the simple fact that it's a NEW CAR, i didn't need to waste the money as i could save it now & spend it later on maintenance/repairs if i need to.
your thoughts?
