Whenever I set my cruise control on my 2000 Elantra for a speed over about 71-72 mph, it surges and you can feel the gas pedal going up and down a good inch or two. It works very smoothly with almost no gas pedal movement any speed below 70, but anything over 70 surges noticeably. The surging is annoying enough I either cut it off or slow down to 70. It has been doing it ever since I bought the car a few years ago. Sometimes the speed will creep up a few mph over the speed I initially set it at. This is a factory cruise control, not an aftermarket add-on.

I had something similar about a year ago but the cruise hasn't worked once since I got the tranny swap 5 weeks ago. I think thats only cuz my pcm is wrong.

My cruise is doing the same thing but intermittently. It can happen to me below 70 as well.
