This has happened twice so far on our almost new 07 Tuscon.
We live 3 hours drive from the dealer, so the roadside assistance was absolutely no help (called and they would only be willing to send a towtruck to tow us back to the dealer) we wound up bringing it (in blinding snow and without wipers) to our local service station (2 miles away) where they took off the tray and put the mechanism back together.
When this happened a second time I made arrangements to bring it to the dealer to figure out what was wrong. The service manager said this was a known problem and offered to give me new wiper arms (after telling me that this would NOT fix the problem, but was all he could do). I am still awaiting a solution from the dealer before bumping this issue up to Hyundai America.
I was also told that I would not be reimbursed for the two fixes (total $80 for both) by the local service station to get my tuscon back on the road (although I guess they would have presumably paid almost $1000 to tow my car to the dealership twice more than 250 miles each way). I will be bringing up this issue as well if not reimbursed.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a realistic solution? It is really the only issue with our vehicle we didn't expect and are upset about. The SUV gets great milage, handles well even in snow, and is much roomier than it looks.
