Lots of Azzy's in AZ (PHX). I kinda feel like "the Jone's". I park next to 2 others at work. 2 co-workers purchased within weeks after riding in mine. Azzy's also seem to be the car of choice at the 2 satellite AVIS stores in my area (4 per location) and they're always rented out.

Last year, i bought an 07 Sonata Ltd/Platinum Edition. Within 4 months, there 4 others on my street alone! Thankfully, the Azzy hasn't caught on in my neighborhood yet. I like having something different than everyone else!

Man, crazy. Whatever Hyundai is doing right in Phoenix, they probably ought to do elsewhere.

Folks who actually see & ride in the car do seem to drop like flies. One of my coworkers is going to buy an Azera. Having ridden in mine he is quite convinced that at first glance, and by the ride quality & handling, "It IS a Lexus... or may as well be!" My boss also loved it and kept complimenting it when she visited last week - but she's a dedicated Lexus owner already. :-/ She seemed to be considering it as a replacement for her husband's S-type though.

They haven't caught on in my neighborhood. When we moved in w/ 3 Jag XJs at the time, our neighbors bought an X-type, and two other XJs showed up at different addresses down the street within a few months. I don't know, maybe the old Jags are more noticeable. Wish I could do the same favor for Hyundai!

I have seen many ads on TV and in quality magazines for the Azera, but not lately. I think they are waiting for the 2008 to actually get here before advertising again. However, they advertised it more than comparable cars from other manufacturers.
I have seen several Azeras in the Greenville SC/Asheville NC area.
Hyundai, Toyota, GM, Nissan, Mazda, et. al. all make their big profits off the Sonata and SUV class cars. I rarely see Toyota advertise an Avalon.
Think of it this way. Because Hyundai sells a lot of other cars, they can afford to produce the Azera at a much lower cost for what it offers.

I'm certain it's not the almost non-existant advertising. It probably has more to do with the fact that the local PHX dealers are practically giving them away. The last part of NOV & DEC, they were selling for $27.5-ish...+ 0% financing. I imagine for those who finance, the 0% was a huge bonus on top of lower price tag for Limited/Ultimate pkg's.

I stopped by my dealer today after lunch. I saw 3 azeras up front prominently displayed. Only problem is they are ALL still 2006 limiteds with like 300 miles that have been sitting since sometime in early 2006. Two years on the lot.

I hate to belabor the point here but I did see no fewer than TWO Azeras - both Limited, one grey, one silver - on my way to work yesterday. Considering the frequency prior to this was one every 6 to 8 weeks, this is quite a change. The silver one appears to be a new one that lives in the townhouses across the street from my office... wonder if parking Thor there most days of the week, occasional visits from the Mrs. in hers, had anything to do with that?

Try parking one of your Jags there and see what happens.

The exclusivity is kinda neat isn't it? Can't count the times pople look out the window when passing or coming the other way. You can almost read their minds "What the **** was that?"

I also get the "What the **** was that?" look.

Like you, I have the clean grill and hood ornament. I think the chrome hood ornament really does it. Everyone stares at the hood as they pass me on the Interstate. Mine isn't even as fancy as the limited but they still look. :)

Yah, yah, I know, why is everyone passing me? To tell you the truth, it is because I only do 5 mph over the speed limit. I keep my cruise set at 80 mph. That makes me a slow driver in this day and age.

Seems like no one obeys the speed laws anymore. But............I digress.

My Azera has always caused second looks. I have actually had three people accuse me of having a Mercedes. The nerve of some people.

i have seen a about 4 around in my area, 3 of the base models (se) and only one limited. at the dealership where i purchased my ride, they only had one se and all the rest are limited, so i am not quite getting why i see the exact opposite.

the santa fe and tucson seem to be the most popular in my area.

I see new Sonatas all over the place here - more than Accord, that's for sure. Yeah - I get the "WTF was that??!" look too - great feeling, isn't it? Driving the mystery-mobile. Might as well have chrome question marks as emblems.

Fun for us, not so much for Hyundai.

Alright you guys are sick to death of hearing me prattle on about this by now but I just have to report the phenomenon.

Azera is taking off in this city. Pow, one month I see them less than once a month, the next I see them EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Every day? This jamoke exaggerating? NO I'm not exaggerating, YES I see them every day. I saw Aubergine and two silvers last Friday - a silver and a grey yesterday - today I was in traffic with a sage green. (I was in the white Jag at the time - ****! Always the wrong car at the wrong time!) It's PHENOMENAL! This is so bizarre that I'm going to call our two local dealers tomorrow and ask if there has been some staggering upswing in Azera sales. Either that's the case, or I'm going crazy... or both...

I don't know how much you guys get to look at other Azeras on the road, but MAN do they ever look nice in motion. Puts a smile on my face every time - *I* have one of those?! Sweet! Especially at dusk, w/ the lights on. What a stunning car.

Just got back from a two week vacation in Florida. I drove from Virginia to Fort Myers, FL (to watch Red Sox Spring Training), then on to Key West and then from Key West back up the east coast to Richmond, VA. We spent about half the time in Ft. Myers and half in Key West.

Saw about 6 to 8 Azeras during the two weeks. I had 4 adults in the car and the trunk jammed packed with luggage; averaged 25 MPG during the two weeks and that's with lot of miles driven at 79 MPH. The top speed I hit was 96 MPH. Guess I can't complain about the MPG. Lowest gas price paid was $3.15 per gallon and highest was $3.65 per gallon in Key West.

The best looking Azera I saw (besides mine) was in Fort Myers. It was a 2006 Limited in Pearl White and it had a beige vinyl top (obviously custom done). It was quite a different look.

I had absolutely no problems with my 2006 Azera Limited during the trip. One night, I pulled into the parking lot of a restaurant next to a parked Mercedes. The Mercedes had retracted it's side mirrors, so I retracted mine as well. When we came back to the car after dinner, the people in the Mercedes were standing behind it talking. We got in our Azera, backed out of the parking space, extended our mirrors and drove off. Now, my Azera has been completly debadged. You should have seen the looks on the Mercedes group trying to figure out what the heck my car was. Made my day.

I am seeing them all over the place now. Becoming very common to see 2-3 per day now and sometimes for. They are even showing up in smaller communities North of Atlanta. I am also seeing a good number with drive-out tags on them as well when tells me they are still putting them on the road in good numbers.

I was with my son when he purchased a new Elantra. There was an excellent selection of Azera's on the lot. I asked the sales guy how they were doing on the Azera. He said Azers sales are very strong. Not as good as the Sonata but selling quite well. Right now, Sonata and Elantra are the big sellers.

While I was there, two Azera's went out on test drives and a new owner drove their new Azera home that day.

See 'em all the time in Raleigh now. Someone in the townhouses across the street from my office bought a silver one a few months back. Seems white, silver & champagne are the colors of choice here.
