Well...the first MAJOR issue the azzy has had. My 9 month old car just got a crack in the dashboard. I took it in and my dealer is going to fix it under warranty but this means ripping out the whole dash assembly and replacing. Who knows how many clunks and rattles it will have now. Turns out it split where the airbag seam is.
This car has had its minor issues but this one takes the cake. I am seriously starting to second guess my decision to buy. I love the car, its beautiful, but it seems like a bunch of retarded monkeys put it together. I was stoked for the new Genesis to come out thinking i'll trade up when it does but maybe I'll just go reliable and go Lex. or Infinity.

I see you live in Arizona. Could it be you parked it in the sun often and the heat may have caused the crack? I have seen windows blow out in the car in the summer months when windows are up and the sun is beaming down on a car.

garage at home and I always use a sun shade when it's out during the day (plus I park in the shade at work). I made it through the hottest part of the summer with it last year and no problems. It just started hitting 90's recently and this happens.
Oh well...at least it's getting fixed

Clearly you need to get that fixed. Please let us know how it goes. So far, my 2007 has been perfect in every way. The fit and finish is just fine on mine. If you have every looked up under the dash, these cars are a put together nicely.

I had the same thing happen to a ford contour--they replaced the dash and not a rattle, little things happen, but i wonder if others will have the same problem.

My fit and finish on my 2006 Azera is great. Not a rattle or a noise, unlike my 2002 Camry that had plenty of rattles. The fit and finish on that car was unexceptional. Azera is 100% better than Camry in most ways.

Yep i concur with you on this...depending on whom does the job.
My Tiburon had a wrinkle down near the steering shoud...so they replaced the crash pad for me and yes while it was a total pull down...it did not make one rattle post refitment....I was extremely happy and relieved.
Dont sweat it ....i know its easy for other forum users to "chill" on the matter but "suck it and see" you might be surprised...you should be as its not monumental by along way.
good luck with it.

It went in today and the Service manager looked at it. He apologized profusely and said they will take care of it. They said the dash should be in by the end of the week and they would schedule my car in for as soon as they get it...possibly next Monday...and they'd make it good as new.

What kind of nighttime climate temps did you have when it cracked? Dashboard cracks normally happen during contraction of a dry dash.

Dash got replaced yesterday. Turns out it cracked along the seam that tears when the passenger side airbag deploys. Airbag was installed a bit wrong and was putting pressure on the dash pad.
New dash looks great and seems to be fine as far as no new rattles or loose parts.
I do have to bring it in tomorrow though so they can make a couple minor adjustments (they remounted the instument cluster a little crooked and the far left air vent controls are recessed a bit too far into the dash)
Hopefully this one lasts longer than 8 months

I noticed today that the dash on my 07 Azera was cracking along the seam of the pass side airbag also. I'll try my dealer on Saturday and see if they are as nice to work with as the one you used to replace your dash panel. I bought this car in January of this year and this shouldn't be happening.

This is a known issue with some Azeras and Sonatas, but mostly Sonatas. We did so many Sonata dash replacements because of this that at one point we were actually stocking the dash assembly.

It should not squeak or rattle at all after replacement. If it does, take it back and make them fix it. You seem to have a great service dept. that cares about their work so I don't see where you should have any problems.

Lilbean, in your experience, do the replacements tend to come back in for re-replacement? Or are the replacement parts generally "right"?

So far we haven't had any of the replaced dashes come back in. I think it was just a design flaw in the dash. The cutouts for the airbag got pre-scored too deeply during production, allowing it to crack through with temperature changes in the dash surface.
