The Biggest Problem with the Scoupe is all this Struggling to start BS!

i dont kow why some has not written a In depth article on how to fix this. i know nothing about electronics or the starting system on a car. buy i will write long articles on turbo and NOS. So someone with a Brain please think of a way to solve this, is this a Std Scoupe Problem or does this happen on all Cars

I have tried to fix my starting problem, i have. REPLACED. Starter Battery, Ijnection Module, Managemnet system, Removed Alarm. replaced Temp Sensors etc...... taken radio out. i have Given up!

where is it located i cant seem to find it? i also heard that these cars have an optical sensor built in the distributor and it acts like a hall effect sensor. except the hall effect sensor kills spark and the optical sensor controls fuel injection.

You have a Mitsubishi engine being a 92, 90% of the time it is a bad ecu. take your ecu out, open it up, and smell it. if it smells of rotten fish then your capacitors are bad, (replace or repair). your ecu is a squarish gold box either under the drivers side or passenger side kick panel(under the dash) that is about 20% larger than a cd-case. another prevalent problem is bad timing belt but this usually fails while driving. to check the timing belt remove the cover (its like 4 screws at the top). also you can check the spark by removing the wire that goes from the coil to the distributer and touching it against a metal part of your engine to see if a spark jumps while turning over the engine. then plug it back in and try removing one of your spark plug wires(carefully) and do the same. don't worry about the hall effect mumbo-jumbo until you've tried at least these steps. as an owner of over 10 4g15's in past years, i know what ails them usually.

change the cranskshaft position sensor. my car did the same thing. i replaced EVERYTHING that had to do with the ignition. then i changed the crankshaft position sensor and bam, it worked. its located on the tranny. should be on the top part. i made a post back in november/december about this and i posted pictures. so you can see where/what it looks like. hope that helps.

The Crank Angle Sensor is on the Front of the gearbox! Faulty C>A>Sensors are a Common Fault on Hyundai's....

Hi all

does the 92 scoupes (mark 1) have a crank position sensor? If so where is it located?

Currently my scoupe sometimes works fine and other times it runs very rich and a lot of black smoke comes out of the exhaust.

Has any one had this situation before?

Your temp sensors is fucked, when the ecu gets told it is cold ecu sends more fuel almost like a CHoke. other than that your maf is getting the wrong readings.

From my past cars failing to turn over properly (was a mitsubishi Magna) the best/cheapest/easiest thing i can think of is some 10mm spark plug leads. enchances spark size, better economy, more power, better start up.. its all win win with bigger leads

If all else fails, have the stored ECU codes read......that will tell you (& the tech.) EXACTLY where your fault is!.

My Scoupe MkII is having starting problems in that when the ignition is turned to ON, (intermittantly) the Check Engine light does not glow and the car wont start.
I can hear the starter motor when the ignition is turned to START, but it wont start.

I am thinking:

Immobiliser
Main ECU relay
Fuel Pump relay
Starter Relay
Faulty ECU?

Any ideas would be great!
