So, is the new Genesis Coupe going to replace the Tiburon? Are they going to discontinue the Tiburon when it comes out? I remember when Toyota replaced the Supra with Celica, and then Celica with the Scions. I really hope that Hyundai doesn't do this; as fun as rear wheel drive cars are, I really like driving a front wheel drive.

They will continue making the Tib---new one to come out in 2010, probably 2.0 liter turbo 4, around 250hp. The Genisis will be a 4 door sedan over 350HP, and there will be a coupe 300hp 3.8 liter--they both appeared at the latest auto shows.

The tiburon is still there mid range sports car. The Genesis will be there first "high end" sports car avilable in north america. But i do know what you mean the tiburon is a pretty nice car for the class its in, definatly a look all its own.

Yeah, the Genesis coupe will be available with the turbo 4-cyl with about 224 horsepower or the 3.8L V6 with about 310 (both depending on whether you use regular gas or premium).

Everything I've read says the Tib will continue, but I haven't heard any details on whether it will keep the same body style (with facelifts or whatever) or be redesigned or what engine(s) will be available or anything else.

The Tiburon will no longer be in production after the 2008 model year.

The Genesis Coupe will hit dealerships in the spring of 2009.

I was told the same by Hyundai. No more Tib after 08 at least for a few years so they can guage the new coupe's sales and then MAYBE it will come back.

The last round of Tibs were produced in August 08. You will still see some at dealers but that seems to be it....

I don't think they would completely put a stop to the Tiburon, however a hiatus seems likely. Hyundai still needs a mid-range sports coupe attraction because even the base model turbo Genesis would be visibly set at a higher price range from the top end V6 tib (about a 2-3000 dollar difference, I dare say?)
What seems like is stated in previous posts that they will probably slap on the new 2.0 turbo engine in the new Tib when it comes back out. But yeah for 2009 they will most likely focus on marketing the Genesis coupe.
