QUOTE(hmr1979 @ Apr 12 2008, 07:23 AM) I told them about the abs/esc when it first started coming on. Because it does not stay on, they said they cannot do anything about it. no light, no code. But I will tell them again about it when I turn the car because of the check engine light.
I would opine that if you have an AutoZone in your area, use their loan-a-tool service and check out the engine code. That way you could be a little more specific to the dealer, but methinks maybe it has to do the the Traction Control?? :whistling:

Last night, second time this has happened, both times on the same offramp. It must be cursed, when I got back on the gas halfway through the turn there was no response from the engine followed by sudden downshift and high revs.
ESC OFF light + CEL light turns on, gone a few hours later both times.
IDK about the first time, but yesterday I was running on about 3 gallons of fuel and it is a steep uphill sweeper with the road sloping down to the right. The CEL went away after I filled up the tank. Is it possible that there was no gas getting to the engine at that angle? Since it was uphill, sloping to the right, and considering i was getting on the gas that would shift mroe weight backwards... Empty light was not on at this point.

It may be a faulty throttle position sensor as well. Some 06 and 07 Sonatas have this problem (there was a tech bulletin about that as far as I remember). Mine did the same thing twice (it happened when I was merging on the highway with fairly cold engine at full throttle, the engine jumped to limp mode, and esc/abs light came on). My dealer replaced the sensor and the problem went away.

QUOTE(dwnthehatch @ Apr 22 2008, 06:35 PM) I had my v6 sonata in twice for this problem. The first time they found a code C1503 and they reset the computer. The second time they got a code C1513 (Brake light switch sticking) and replaced the switch. Everything has been fine for a year now.
Well, I guess I spoke too soon. My ABS and ESC lights have been coming on just about every time I drive my sonata now. Back to the dealer I go.
