After a lot of deliberation, I bought an '05 blue Tucson GL yesterday. I was going to get a Honda Fit, but the $6,000 price difference between a new Fit and this used Tucson was enough to sway me.

Anyhow, I've got a couple questions to which I cannot seem to find answers on Google.

First off, I read in the manual that the parking lights should go off automatically when the driver's side door opens, and the headlights can't turn on at all until the keys are in the "ON" position. My parking lights stay on all the time - the front and side lights - and the headlights turn on even if the keys aren't in the ignition at all. I saw that a few people have had this problem - has anyone gotten it fixed? Is it worth taking it into my local dealership to have examined?

Secondly, I've read in various places online that heated side mirrors are a standard feature of the Tucson, but the user manual clearly states "if installed" when referring to this feature. Are the heated side mirrors truly a standard feature? If not, how can I find out if I have that feature?

Anyhow, I'm the second Hyundai owner in the family (my mom bought a used XG350 last year). I don't know if I'm a satisfied customer yet, since I've only owned my new Tucson for about 24 hours, but I'm happy so far! :)

Welcome to the Hyundai Family!!!

I have left my lights on before and didnt realize it, once key was out of the ignition and vehicle was locked there were no lights on out side the vehicle.... I still continue to turn them off to be on the safe side.

As for heated mirrors... Yes I have a base vehicle, standard... base as base can get, just added AC, and my vehicle has heated mirrors.

One way to check is turn yo ur rear defrost on, see if the mirror gets warm. They are activated with the rear defrost... or use it on a dewy morning, should dry up right away!!

Cheers

I have had my top of range CRTD CDX since new and still find it way above other 4 x 4 SUDs. Tried a new I 10 the other day not for me too small.
Cruise control is what I like about it even though its Manual and the 5 year warantee is excactly that with two new keys new wiper arms and recently a new prop shaft as the other was noisey with no trouble at all makes it a great buy. Only niggle is fual consuption at 21.5 US after 45000 miles and 16 US when hitched to my Caravan.
With disel at £1,30 2 dollars a litre it really hurts.
Otherwise no better buy about.

Hi Phil and a big :00000732: to the forums
I am now opn my 2nd Tucson my first a 2.0crtd cdi I bought in 2004 when they first came out and together with many other original owners we kept on at Hyundai UK about the crappy consumption and the fact that the fuel guage sender was calibrated to US gallons- well after a while Hyundai came up with a new speedo cluster and also a ecm upgrade.
It sounds to me as if the upgrade may not have been done with your Tucson but if its registered before about june 2005 then this may be the case.
If you do a search up the top right of the page under fuel consumption diesel you will be able to get some of the answers you need.
My 2004 eventually got up to 34mpg solo and 26-28 towing my caravan.
I eventually traded it in in Jan 2007 for a Tucson 2.0 CRTD CDI Limited with 6 speed gearbox and what a difference the Evo engine makes and the BHP is up from 113 to 138 and this helps with the towing.
I also use a powerbox as do many of my tucson owning collegues and details of that can also be obtained - pm me for a copy of the report.
You can also contact me through www.tucsondrivers dot com where I moderate and also at the Hyundai owners club of gb at www.hyundaiownersclub.co.uk

Now have a search around my friend as this was the forum that has all the original information as up to 50 of us posted quite a bit of information.
Where in the UK are you? it helps if we know as someone may live near who can get you up to date with a personal visit maybe.

Cheers for now
