Ok long story short... bought car (2000 4cyl.) in April. Guy told me he does not have the little "key" to disable the IMMOBILIZER thingy under the steering wheel, but the car turns on. Great car.. today my battery died. Replaced battery.. Now car will not start without the little IMMOBILIZER being deactivated. I'm very sad about this. Hyundai said the manufacturer of this IMMOBILIZER has gone out of business so now I can't get a key. I dont know what my options are. Can I disable this by myself or is that a bad idea? Thank you.

Tricia

EDIT: OK SO I HAVE DONE FURTHER RESEARCH AND LEARNED THAT IT IS NOT MY ALARM THAT IS CAUSING THIS, BUT MY "IMMOBILIZER" I NEVER RECEIVED AN IMMOBILIZER KEY AND THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT. I WAS WRONG.

This is an aftermarket thing that was installed on the car at the dealership apparently. RD Tiburons did not come with immobilizers from the factory. You will have to have someone with automotive electrical knowledge to see how it's wired in and if it can be uninstalled.

LOL... I don't know if anyone's going to be able to help you without actually looking at the car itself. The "immobilizer" can be installed any number of different ways depending on how it works.
