Hi Guys,

Got an intriguing problem with my Excel after filling the tank with petrol. It starts ok, but almost straight away starts idling rough, running rough and there is a strong smell of fuel. It also lacks power and bogs down under acceleration.

This continues on until abt 100kms of fuel is used (some wasted!!) then settles down and behaves normally. This problem doesn't occur on partial fills as I only part filled the tank today and it still runs as normal.

Can anyone help me solve this problem??

Cheers...Aussie Boy

I had a similar problem, and it was water in the tank. I poured about 1/2 litre of methylated spirits into the tank, and the problem cleared up not long after. The metho combines with the water and allows it to burn (after a fashon).

Give it a go and see what happens. it wont hurt anything.

cheers
