I have a2007 Azera with 21000 miles that after about five miles developes a warbling noise in the front. Had tires rotated and 4 wheel alignment but no change.
Different road surfaces add noise but the warble is always there. Anyone else had this problem? Any resolution? Thanks

Did they check your tires for cupping?

:)

If that 'noise' occurs only after the car has been driven "about five miles" how can it be cupped tires?

If it were cupped tires, wouldn't the 'noise' be there at all times even when the tires are cold? :whistling:

When the alighment was done, wouldn't the tech have pointed out any badly cupped tires?

Could all four tires be cupped that badly, assuming that
they have been properly rotated in a timely manner?

How long has this been going on and is it getting progressively worse?

Maybe a bad wheel bearing that gets noisey after warming up?

As you can plainly see, I'm only on a fishing expedition!

Good luck. Please let us know when you discover what the problem is.

:amen:

( :innocent: )

"Warbling" is a little obscure - hard to describe noises in words. Is it a high-pitch squeaking sound, like a metallic 'chirp', or an oscillation in road noise coming out of the tires? If it's the former, can you tell if it's coming out of the wheels on either side, or out of the engine bay? If you roll down the windows and drive past a reflective surface like a wall or barrier close to the street, does the sound reflect back to you? Or are you just hearing it inside the car?

It wouldn't be bad wheel bearings. Bad wheel bearings make a kind of 'turbine' sound. If it's a squeak, it could be a bad pulley bearing on the accessory belt in the engine, a warped rotor that's squeaking against the pad, or touching the stone guard on the back of the steering knuckle. May also be that CV joints need to be lubricated.

I thought something would change when I had the tires rotated. I thought it might be cupped tires but I cannot feel anything when I run my hand around the tires,
The noise, after it starts get louder as I slow down to a stop. The harder I press on the brakes the louder it gets. The brakes were checked and there is no pulsing when stopping. When I go over a rise in the road the noise is less. When I sway the car back and forth I cannot tell any difference. Down shifting does not change the noise nor does shifting to neutral.
Back to the dealer.

It is very possible for a tire that is cupping to get louder as you brake hard.

The rogue tire is being pressed against the pavement harder than usual and any unusual tread wear will get louder under this condition.

Keep in mind that just because some tech balanced your tires does not mean he inspected each one carefully.

Just an idea. Could be many other things also. Best to check the simplest things first before completely rebuilding the entire car. :)

We will be very interested in hearing what you find out when the problem is solved. Keep us posted.

I have had tires that looked completely normal and yet had the sound you describe. It turned out to be tires with the tread separating from the body of the tire. It can usually be seen only when the tire is in motion. You have to get someone to watch the tires closely as you drive by slowly. This is one of the hardest types of problems with a tire to diagnose.

Other member's suggestions are good areas to check on too. Good luck! :)

Hunter GSP9700 :amen:

If the tech using this machine knows what he is doing, and if the noise is being produced
by a tire that is having tread seperation, the "Road-Force" test will 'load' the
tire much the same as if it were on the road, and both of you should be
able to both see the problem and also hear the noise.
