[B]I have a 2003 Trajet GSi 2.0 litre automatic . I bought it 5 weeks ago and according to the service history it's been serviced yearly. Last service 9 months ago. I have worked out that my fuel consumption is about 12.7 mpg. To me that sound way too high. I managed about 116 miles on 42 litres, which means I can only get about 176 miles out of a full tank. Is this normal for a Trajet? If not , what can be the reason? My friend has the exact same model and manages over 200 miles from a tank.
Please help as this is burning a hole in my wallet!!

Hi simoncrp

I get 175km per a 20 L , mixed driving .

For bad F.C check spark plugs , Air filter . faulty oxygen sensors leads to bad FC

if been in a bad fc for a very long time , a missing tooth in timing belt maybe

the cause .

regards

Thanks. I only get 95 km per 20 L !! I only bought the car 6 weeks ago but it is due for a new timing belt in 4000 miles. Maybe that will help.
Regards.

Hi Simon

I get around 18.5 or with a very light foot and no revs higher than 2,500 20mpg or 30 mpg on a motorway.

It sounds like it could be one of several things , timming or ecu (same thing ) how many miles has it got and has it been serviced by a garage or dealer ? , to let you know my trajet is almost 3 yrs old (from new) and in the last few mths i have had new front suspension struts and breakpads fitted ( last was found out by RAC ) and that was 2 mths after a service.

get back to us with the info on its history if you can .

Hi. I bought the car with a full service history. The car is 5 years old and has 46,000 miles. The first 2 services were carried out by Hyundai and the last 2 were carried out by a small garage. I am a bit worried that the book was just stamped without actually being serviced with the last 2! I went to a local garage yesterday to get just the air filter changed and it was filthy after 6000 miles since the last service! So maybe that will help with the fuel consumption.
My car is automatic as well so that doesn't help! I went to Hyundai last week and they did a diagnostic and said that all sensors are working.

My 200 Jet with 61000 miles gets around 300 - 350 miles on a tankful. Thats around Milton Keynes which is like driving on a racetrack. I try to be as lightfooted as possible and run the jet as a five seater, keeping it as light as possible. Sounds like you've got a problem as you should be getting far better ,ileage.
