Hey all, I gots me a 99' tibby and she's not doin' well.

Issue 1) Same **** issue as LinkTHIS, it does not happen all the time but when it does it's damned embarrassing because everyone thinks that I'm revving to race them.

The old people REALLY give me a funny look.

So anyone else with this issue, did you get it fixed? What's the solution?

Issue 2) In EVERY gear when I rev my tib to 3-grand it feels "rough". Best way to say this is it almost feels like when you veer off the high way and you ride that rough concrete that makes your car vibrate loud....like that but not as much. follow? Oh and I swear there's a power loss as well, just doesn't feel as "peppy" when it hits 3-grand.

Issue 3) When ever I take a right hand turn, my tib makes a "clicking" noise that sounds like it's coming from my wheel wells. It's the loudest when the car has not warmed up. I first noticed this about a month back, it was real quiet, now it's just getting worse and worse!

I know I'm mechanic bound, but any help from any of you would be greatly appreciated!!!

The clicking noise while turning is most likely your cv axles. When you get a chance, raise the car and look at the rubber boots on the axles. If you can see the bearings then you need to replace the axles. It might be cheaper to get boot replacement but the entire axle would have to be rebuilt. Quicker to just get new ones. For the 2nd issue how long has it been since you replaced the plugs? If you got the cheap plugs then they won't last long. Have you replaced the fuel filter? This can sometimes be the problem but not always. It's cheap and you can do it yourself. If it doesn't fix that problem then at least you got a new filter. The first problem sounds familiar, is your tib man or auto?

ok, no idea on the first problem

#2- if your car is a manual its more than likely your clutch slipping, its gripping until the 3k then it loses traction from the higher rpms, which means, your gonna need a new clutch--- for a new clutch, this is the best on the market, and a great price http://www.dxdracingclutches.com/home.html part #K05087

#3-dragon is right, i have the same problem also, check the cv joints/axels thats more than likely your problem there, pretty common in the tiburons

I may have something to offer in regards to your first problem...

I have a 98 Tib that was doing almost the same thing. It revved and stalled constantly but it took about 3 months for my CEL to pop on. I got a bunch of voltage codes and one code regarding my MAF.

Turns out my mass air flow meter was faulty - picked a new one up at a local scrap yard for $50 (Hyundai wanted $400+++), pulled the old one out, cleaned the throttle body, popped the replacement MAF in and it hasn't stalled or revved out of turn since.

And I don't know if you have done anything about the clicking yet but if you're going to do anything with your CV joints I would suggest looking for a rebuilder. I just had my half shafts rebuilt for a fraction of the cost of new ones and it took 1 day...
