I received a notification from Vehicle Warranty Division Recall Notification Center that there is a recall on my 2006 Azera. Received a postcard in the mail to call 800 649 1997 ASAP

Could this be a extended vehicle warranty company trying to sign me up to a long term contract or is it on the up and up?

This is a "sham".

A legitimate "Safety Recall" will give you specific information as to what the problem is and will instruct you to contact your dealer for an appointment.

Just what I thought. Haven't seen anything on the boards about the Azera. Some company continues to call me at home about an extended warranty on my Azera. I keep saying no but they keep hounding me.

Why not contact the .gov site that gets you on the 'no call' or 'opt out' list?. Can't remember which it is, but since signing up we've virtually eliminated all those bothersome calls.

:)

We had done that already and it surely does work, and work well. :liebe011:

NOW, is there such a site for unwanted email? We have one in particular in mind.
That pill place up in Canada. They are really cute. They farm out our addresses to
private individuals who then send out emails to several of us at one time.
Had several different ones on all our emails this morning and when you reply
to them, you get that your email to them is non-deliverable!

What to do? :offtopic:

If you reply to opt out, you have done what they want you to do. You have verified that your email address is legitimate.

I have found that over the years, if I just ignore them, they will go away.

Remember, every time you reply, you are verifying yourself and are being sold to even more spammers.

:offtopic: That's right; only reputable, legitimate businesses with "unsubscribe" on the footer are actually going to unsubscribe you from their newsletters & spam. If it's a no-namer, a Russian pill factory or a Nigerian lottery agency telling you that you won; IF there is an unsubscribe link at all, THEN it is really just going to flag your address as valid and, David is right, you're likely to get more and more and more spam.

Thanks gentlemen for the sound advise. :liebe011: Makes sense.

I can tell from what I have seen recently that what you are saying is indeed true. :amen:

I'm on the do not call list, but for some reason these idots got my phone number and call eveyweek. I screen my calls and never pick up, so now they send me all of this junk mail. Why would they want to sell me an extended deal now? The car is only two years old.

As soon as they get your info, they spam you. I get email from all of the cars:

"Our records indicate that the factory warranty on your 2007 HYUNDAI AZERA will expire soon. Please contact us..." (it will expire in 4 and a half years)

"Our records indicate that the factory warranty on your 1997 JAGUAR XJR will expire soon... etc etc" (it expired 7 years ago).

It's just canvassing, they don't really know or care when your warranty expires, in some cases probably don't even know what kind of car you drive.

I dug through my old electronic stuff and dusted off my old Bel-Tronics AD100 when I decided to give called ID another try here in Florida. I've subscribed to the "do not call" service, but if you have some business connection to a caller, the caller may call you, regardless. Also political and begging calls are immune.

The old AD100 enables you to add numbers to a "reject" list and, after the first ring, it plays an audible message, "The party you have reached is not accepting your calls at this time." There is also a "blocker" function. When someone calls you with their info blocked, this unit plays "The party you have reached does not accept annonymous calls. Please disable your call blocking feature and try again."

I get a fair number of one-ring calls and smile each time...

I looked a while back and I can't see where anyone has made/sold a similar unit since this Bel-Tronics unit was sold a decade or more ago. I have seen an occasional rare eBay offer for the AD100, bringing over $50, but mine is NOT for sale...

Since you have caller ID, why not answer the call and reply with a blast from a whistle or air horn? Maybe that will get you removed from their list. :57:

All you have to do is answer the phone and say you are recording the phone call and tell them if they call you again you will press charges for harrasment. They will then stop.
