Friday saw us perform final tuning and then testing of the i30CRDi PCM upgrade. We have a couple of these cars now and have been performing testing in the pair of them to speed up the R&D process. As of today we are able to announce the i30 CRDi PCM upgrade available to the general public for $995
Now heres, what you get for the money -

Power gains are strong right across the board, which result in enough instant urge to get the front wheels spinning in second gear (if you so desire) and stop that diesel feeling of the engine 'laying over' as it revs. This little 1600 will spin to nearly 5000rpm if you so desire

Bringing the boost on earlier with more aggressive VGT (Variable Nozzle Turbo) control gives a nice sharp ramp into torque. Overall boost pressure has been raised to 22psi up from the factory 19psi :)

A driving loop consisting of a city cycle that saw the CRDi driven from Port Adelaide across to Kensington (at 1pm - 2pm so it was busy) and then back down through Morphett Vale, and along back the coast through the suburbs saw astounding average fuel consumption of 4.5l/100km
Performance Testing on the Drift Box has shown a best 0-400m time of 15.76 seconds, and 0-100km/h sprint of 8.22 seconds. This is lineball with a new SV6 in straight line acceleration, and a massive 1.4 seconds faster to 100km/h than the i30 was with the original tune in place. Its all good

To recap then, for i30 CRDi owners -
We offer the PCM upgrade (mail order) featured here for $995
We also have a rear muffler 'delete' pipe that sounds great for $100 (we didnt use this in our performance testing, however it does sound great)
Add $30 for overnight airfreight, and its a simple upgrade :)

The PCM is located on the side of the airbox and is held in position by four 10mm bolts -

$1000 for what amounts to 10 seconds of flashing in a program, I dont see the value, if it were around $400 perhaps, its no different to paying big bucks to a dealer to flash their latest software into your car.

Impressive gains, but value for dollar, I can go very far on $1000 of diesel as it is, not to mention I dont void my warranty, if anyone thinks that Hyundai doesnt monitor online forums, you are welcome to take that gamble, Im not.

Congrats on cracking the computer, in due time Im sure plenty of owners will do their own tuning and buy the necessary software and have a plug and play.
