Newbie here

My 02 has been making noise that comes from the front driver's side, since Thanksgiving. It sounds like a tire rubbing. I have rotated the tires, changed the brakes and still the noise is still there.

The noise only occurs while driving and is the loudest at 60mph. The noise gets louder when the road curves to the left and quieter when I it curves to the right. Also when I hit dips in the road as the cars goes down it gets louder and when it raises up it get quieter.

It doesn't appear to affect the performance of the car; it is just loud and I want to make sure that it isn't a safety issue.

If anyone has any ideas for me to try I will as of now I am going to bring it into the shop this week.

Thanks

What kind of shape are your rotors in? Mine kind of did this because the rust on the edge of the rotor had built up to the point where it was able to rub the brake pads. Mine was very loud turning to the left and almost normal going straight. Changed the rotors, no more noise.

Tim,
Another newbie to the forum here.
My '02 would make noises periodically and it usually was from a couple sources. Sometimes I would have a buildup of dried mud on the mud flap and rear inner fender which would rub the tire in different positions of turning or suspension travel. The other thing I found once was the front inner fender came loose from the outer fender. Not noticeable when stopped, but at speed it would bend back and rub the tire. Just had to snap it in place.
I would check the inned fender plastic to see if anything is loose as well. Good luck!
