QUOTE(andyman32 @ Jul 23 2008, 06:46 PM) I know they must be shipping more in after the initial number. We were supposed to get about 700 in the first shipment; we know for a fact that some of them sold :bwekk:
I found about 730 on autotrader and it started to go down a little, but in the last 2 days it has gone up to about 870.
Anyone have any 'inside info' on when the 4.6 will arrive? Any dates at the dealerships?
First time poster here in this forum. I've been watching it closely though for a while now. I've been waiting for this Genesis for almost 3 years now..... I'm waiting for the 4.6 too and have looked everywhere for a release date. The dealers have no clue when they're coming in so I'm hoping someone here has some inside knowledge that they'd like to share.

QUOTE(LilBean @ Jul 23 2008, 09:48 PM) We were originally supposed to receive 4 of the 3.8s. When our first one came in, our GM was so impressed that he ordered 5 more (3.8s of course). We have yet to received any more than the first one.
All we are being told on the 4.6 is "later this year". We were originally told September, but now things have gotten more vague.
My dealer received 3. I test drove it and all I can say is WOW! The sales manager said they were told the 4.6 would come in around September. Meanwhile they added $5900. on to the price because of the "shortage". I told them that it is out and out gouging. I am waiting at least a year, not in a big rush. Don

QUOTE(yjbeach @ Jul 24 2008, 07:56 AM) I can imagine the way the market is right now. Like all the other dealers they don't see a need to bring in a V8 when most people are downsizing to 4's and 6's are hard to move.
Even Chevy is delaying their release of the SS Camero. Probably trying to squeeze a few extra MPG.
I have a question.
If you buy the first year of any model that comes out and you have a lot of problems with it. Since you can't really do any research on the reliability of the model. Do you believe you have the right to complain when things start to go wrong?
Of course you do - if for no other reason than that the warranty covers it for 5 years, the 'heavy stuff' for 10. If something goes wrong they HAVE to fix it. The only case where it gets subtle is when something is not "broken", but clearly not operating "right", like the bumping sound in the Azera suspension (and other models too? not sure...) where Hyundai techs have been trained to say "that's the way it's supposed to work." It's not broken - but there shouldn't be any loose 'knocking' sound in a 6-month-old, brand new car with 2000 miles on it (mine).

I have a feeling September will come and go with no 4.6. I don't think they will release it during the winter months either......... So do you think we'll have to wait until April of next year?
I'm feeling the pinch too when I pull up to the pump. I've decided that I love cars more than I love playing golf 3 days a week so I'm cutting back to 1 day a week. Its all about money management from here on out.......
Drill drill drill!!!!

Andy, it's obvious that Hyundai engineers can design a suspension that appears to be flawless. When I test drove the Genesis, I purposely took it over some rough pavement and not a sound, the car handled beautifully. When all the smoke subsides and the car is not in short supply, that's when I may consider parting with my beloved Azzy and keeping my Sonata for the short jaunts and errands (it's 2 1/2 yrs. with only 9100 miles). I am going to wait at least a year. My wife drives the Azzy and we use it for driving together. You really must drive the Genesis to appreciate that Hyundai can build a luxury car. Don

QUOTE(HyundaiLvr87 @ Jul 24 2008, 04:43 PM) We received 2 of them a few weeks ago, a silver one and black one. Neither are sold, but they both sit infront of the showroom. The black one is the manger's demo.
Are we talking the 4.6 Genesis?

QUOTE(madderhatter @ Jul 28 2008, 07:50 PM) Update - I went to the local dealer to get my first look at the Genesis (Wow) and they are now saying a November/December time frame. Of course I'll take that with a grain of salt since most of them have a hard enough time finding their way to work in the morning.
The first salesman I talked to at the very beginning of July didn't know what the Genesis was. So he handed the call off to a senior salesman at my dealer who was 'familiar with the Genesis', and told me on the phone that they would not receive their first one until September. Then someone else called back two days later to let me know that they had just received their first one... in the first week of July. Sometimes I think I'd rather have that tasty grain of salt than to talk to a Hyundai salesman about Hyundais. :rant2: I get far better information here than in the dealership.
