Hi, having around 57k, 2004 SF 2.4L, I recently did the following:
- Timing belt change
- Tensioner
- V-ribbed belt
- Belt-V Power
- Belt-Balance
- Spark plugs
- Spark plug wires
- Brake fluid flush
- Power steering flush
- Wheel rotation/balancing
All done at Hyundai service center.
The thing is now the engine sound has totally changed. Earlier it used to be something like "tick-tick.." from the right side, now it's more of a deep bass "Hmmm" and hardly heard from outside.
That I don't mind, however the
MAIN ISSUE IS: From stop now whenever I start the RPM literally shoots up with a big engine "Hmmm" sound till AT kicks in and lowers it ; also whenever now I accelerate from (say) 40 to 65 or even btw 65 to 70/75. It's as if the AT is not able to "keep up" and thus kicking in at a later pt. than earlier. Any help is appreciated as to why. Checked AT fuel - it's in great condition.

Hey there,
It sounds good that your ticking has gone away and the engine sounds gruntier  The dealer I am sure would fix this problem for nothing, as you had a really full service done through them. Your old plugs might have been stuffed, and the new ones are making the idle off...
Sounds like it might be the idle adjuster, which may or may not be electronically adjusted.
Maybe.....
