hello all!

my brakes are terrible and wobble the steering wheel alot when braking, even lightly, from 60mph or above. And i've noticed a light wobbling in the wheel when i hit about 60mph and keep accelerating.
I have some Black Diamond direct replacment brakes, ready to fit, which look great but i fear i might have the same loud and worrying wobble even with these on and i'd prefer to have good and safe brakes. So i have 2 questions.

1) is there something wrong with my brakes. Do they need balancing or the wheels aligning?

2) I was just thinkin, the scoupe has the same stud pattern as a Nissan 200sx, 114.3mm PCD, correct?
So why not a by a 200sx (S13) big brake kit?

sounds like your front rotors/discs are distorted, new rotors and pads should cure the problem

114.3 is correct, if you can confirm that the 200sx brake kits will fit, then it would be awesome upgrade to some scoupe maniacs who had gone over 200bhp.

My brakes sucks too

the S13 (240SX) brakes are a good and all
but if you want great brakes go get you some 300zx brake rotors and calipers.
that is what we put on my buds S13.4 (its a 240SX with a S14 front end conversion) and we drift the **** out of it. and they work way better than the normal ones.
how ever, since that works for the american S13 i dont know about your 200sx (S13) so i'll look it up for you.

When you`ve sorted your brakes, get your wheels balanced & remember that warped discs (rotors) are almost always caused by the differential-cooling effect of sitting at traffic lights etc., with hot discs...... & keeping your foot on the brake pedal!.

Use the handbrake only when the car is stationary!.

Cheers,
Nick. :)

Valkrie YB70 - Ahh thats where I was going worng....handbrake only in future. Don;t want to mess up my Black Diamonds.

Nice on Tomlin.

I mean a 4 lug S13 Big brake kit.

So are you sure these will fit?

IF so you're a genius and we can all have MASSIVE brakes! :460:

Please confirm this before I have a fit.

Coolio dude! :57:

Alos I was told by my local Mechanic that to replace the front discs he'll need to replace the wheel bearings. Is this true?

the s13 brakes will never fit... I already tried it..the front brake disks on the scoupe are behind the hub and had 4 srews whith hold the disk.. and by the s13 the brakedisk ist only stuck on the 4 wheel bolts and the middle hole from the s13 brakedisk are also to small...because of this i never tried if the caliper will fit..and the rear also not fit because the s13 has a drum insede teh brakedisk for the handbrake this did not fit on the S-Coupe

@aj7
yes it is possible taht you have to repalce the bearing the chance is 50% that the bearing brake when you dismantle it

I hope you understand waht I want to say because my englisch is not the best, ask wehen you want something to know

Hole scoupe is 67,1 and S13/S14 66,1. It could be machined to 67,1 but it can be risky. I know someone whos has just cut off that screws and still drives but its kinda risky too I think.

Firstly Apologies for resurecting this thread but this is going to be of interest to me from Sunday (I finally again get my hands on an unmolested Turb)

The 114.3 PCD is shared by a number of cars - I have sat on my drive a dead (bottom end) Honda Accord 2.2 Vtec the PCD for this is the same @ 114.3

This gives me Black Diamond disc's and clipers to mess around with. I'll be getting the sports Cat and Stainless Exhaust system re worked to fit as well as messing around with the 18" Rims I had on it although I have no desire to run the Scoupe with 18's, would be good just for a pic or 2.

(anyone want some 18" Ultralite SPEC 941 alloys?) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) maybe later..

Every disc change on the Accord had the same bearing issue, they had to be changed as they would almost always break, I'll not rush head long into it as the CB (?) for the Accord is 64.1 as opposed to the Scoupes 67.1 Below is a list of some (not all) of the cars with a 4x114.3 PCD.

PCD, ET, CB - no wonder it gets confusing.

PCD I get - distance between centre of wheel stud > centre of wheel stud.

ET - Offset

CB - no idea to be honest.

Sencondly - Hi (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Lost about 4-5 hrs so far reading through the forum posts, re-reading and noting bits here and there, there is a lot we can do (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Propaply Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon brakes could be fitted with little bit of customization. I remember some of you did it but I am not sure.

Next possibility is Elantra Brakes from same era.
