My 2001 Hyundai Accent was in the shop for about 2 months and so far I forked over a total of $1100 to put in a used engine. My mechanic would tell me it would be done on a certain day and when that day came he would tell me that its not ready because he made a mistake and now it's leaking transmission fluid. He told me that he had to replace some kind of plate. Finally he said it was ready to be picked up and I had it no longer than 6 hours when all of the tranny fluid leaked out and it wouldn't go into gear. My car was fine before my engine locked up 2 months ago. So now my mechanic suggested I took it to a friend of his to get it fixed. Apparently it's my torque converter that is leaking. I think that he is trying to get me to pay for his mistake. He claims that when my engine locked up it put some kind of crack in the torque converter and that is why it is leaking. I read somewhere that it is possible to mess up the torque converter when replacing the engine because it would just hang off the transmission and bend the shaft seal causing it to leak. I don't think this was my fault! I just gave him all the money I had and I am still stuck catching rides everywhere. Please if anyone could help me I am going nuts without my car.

ask to keep the original parts , your allowed to keep them , if they give you a dscont for a core charge ask to look at the old part , write down the serial number on it and then if it seems fish track down that part , better yet before you have any repair done , ask them to let you watch , by law they cant refuse , but you do have to take precausions .

id do my best to watch over them !
