Hi all.
My Azzy was built on 11/30/07 and pulls slightly to the right since I bought it. I've had the alignment and tires checked and these came out good. Well, the tech said the weights on the tire were incorrect.
Anyone else have this problem or know what my next steps would be?
I also have vibration at the steering wheel too.
Thanks and thanks for this very good forum

:00000732: skates,
The wheel vibration is almost certainly a missing wheel weight. Since your Azzy pulls right, you probably still do not have your alignment right. Is your alignment shop using the latest specifications from Hyundai...don't laugh, Sears used an old spec sheet when they did my Santa Fe. I had to bring it back three times, and finally handing them the spec sheet from the hmaservice.com site to get it right.

I took it to Les Shwab tires, which is a big franchise on the west coast. He showed me the print out for the tires and the alignment and although the alignment was not perfect, it was in spec. If I remember correctly he said the weight on one of the tires was too high and he replaced it within spec, but I don't know how old the spec was. I'm assuming Les Shwab has the latest info since it's a pretty big tire place, but so is Sears.
I think I'm going to track down a dealer with the Hunter GSP9700 and see if I can get this straightened out once and for all. The car bounces around a lot and the steering column jumps too, along with the pull. All signs point to tires that are out of round or the walls are too fat.
I will say the more miles I put on it, the better the ride gets. Currently I have 10K miles on it and have had it since last December.
If anyone can made a recommendation on tires, I'd appreciate it.

I can certainly make one recommendation. Make sure you get all of this taken care of before hitting the 12,000 mile mark. Once you do, you are on your own as far as expenses are concerned. My 07 started pulling to the right about a thousand miles ago and I have a tire that is cupping. Unfortunately, I had 16,000 miles on it at the time. Bottom line, it is going to cost me $99 dollars if I have the dealer do the alignment work and if I want a new tire, it will be prorated and I will probably have to pay close to full retail for it. So far, I am holding off until I get something else straightened out with my Azera. I am trying to get better shocks installed under warranty before I worry about front end work. I personally think some of the Azera front end problems have to do with the crappy shocks that are being used. In any event, get it done before the odo hits 12,000 miles. David <><

Thanks David. Will do. I'd rather just get a new pair of shoes for this thing, but also want a fair deal from the dealer. I'm unsure what their responsibility is for replacing the tires though?

Only your dealer can tell you what to do regarding bad tires prior to 12,000 miles. Once again, I am confused about something you said just prior to this post, and I quote, "I will say the more miles I put on it, the better the ride gets. Currently I have 10K miles on it and have had it since last December". If the ride is getting better, why are you complaining? Is it better or is it still bad? Inquiring minds want to know. :) David <><

Maybe I've just gotten used to it. It pulls and the steering wheel jumps around, but it doesn't seem as noticeable as first. I plan to either buy or have the tires replaced, but will check to see if I can find a dealer with the Hunter GSP9700 first to back up my assumption that one of the tires has a flat spot, out of round, etc. If so I'll see if they will replace the tires.

I also have vibration at the steering wheel too.
Pulling to the right slightly is expected if you are driving on the usually crowned roads in the US. If the road slopes to the right any vehicle will drift to the right because it wants to go downhill. You'll have to find a good level interstate or checking safely if when you drive left of the centerline the car drifts left. Thats a sure sign your alignment is good when it also drifts right on the right.
Vibration most often is bad balancing but can also be warped or dinged wheel. Check your for lateral runout. The tire can also have a sidewall bulge that cancause vibration so check them for lateral runout. (rotate the wheel and measure any deviation from horizontal plane at rim and tire. Any deviation more than a mm (.040") is suspect. good luck..

I have 18,000 miles on my Azera. I really had not noticed it but when the Hyundai tech took my car for a ride a couple of weeks ago for a different problem, he did notice it. I said it always pulled slightly and thought it to be normal. He said, "Not normal".
As a result, the dealership did a "FOUR WHEEL" alignment and it now tracks perfectly. By the way, even though it was past the 12,000 mile mark, the dealership picked up the bill.
If some of you cannot get the dealership to fix your "pulling to the right" problem, tell them they must do a front and rear alignment.
Both my front and back were out of specs.
The car, that is, not me. :)

Thanks David. I'll have them look at it on my next service and see what they find.
