[FONT=Times][SIZE=1][COLOR=blue] Hello! My girlfriend has an Elantra (G3) and she's been having some issues with the sunroof. Most notably, the sunroof does not completely seal shut on the drivers side (back corner) and remains tilted in toward the interior when closed. Additionally, if she tries to just pop the rear up (keeping the majority of the window closed), the driver side does not raise up. The window will still continue opening fully if she wants to open the entire window.

I messed around with it the other day and it seems like the driver side is sticking a bit when we try to close it, so that both edges of the window are not completely lining up correctly to shut. At that point, the back driver corner [perhaps] gets caught and keeps the window from sealing shut properly. After opening, closing, opening, closing, opening, closing, etc, I was able to get the roof to pop up properly and seal- but it's back to not closing/opening correctly.

I'm just wondering if anyone else may have experienced this similar issue. I'm wondering if we just need to grease up the window joints again but would like to get any feedback if possible. Thanks for your assistance!

I am having almost the same exact problem on my 01 G3 elantra. Unfourtantly i have not have a ton of time to look more into. the only difference with mine is that it opens fine but then when i try and close it i have to basically force it shut but pulling with all my strength to get it to shut. and then like your girlfriend's the back corner of the drivers side wont go down all the way and then it wont pop up at all. What did you do to try to fix it?? I would appreciate any help because i dont want to have to take it somewhere to get it fixed. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the response! I haven't done anything about it yet, as I've been waiting to see what others here at this forum have experienced. I think the biggest thing is probably grease-related (but I was hoping to get confirmation from this forum). I used to have a Toyota with a sunroof and I know the owner's manual talked about greasing it on a fairly regular basis, so my guess is that this is the same root of the problem.

I've noticed that I can get it fully closed if I open it partially (as if we're going to hve the entire window open- not tilted), close it, open partially, close it, open partially, close it... I think that allows the driver side to "catch up" and get in line with the passenger side, completing the level and snug fit. I have also tried pushing forward on the driver side window as it's shutting to help get it in line.

I want to take a look at my gf's manual and see if it says anything about regularly greasing the window. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.
