The AM reception on my 08 Veracruz is terrible. My 10 year old Mercury had better reception and a recently rented Honda picked up stations without static that I can't do on the Veracruz. It seems to be worse at times (More then just the weather related reception difference). One afternoon, I pushed seek and it went completely around the dail without even stopping on static. The dealer is telling me that because of the design of the Veracruz the reception won't be great. (Now they tell me). The FM reception is very good. What can be done to improve it?

I had been using XM but got tired of paying for it and even with XM I liked to switch to the local stations for local news and would get too much static.

Perhaps there is a loose connection between the antenna amplifier and
the lead going forward to your radio. Or the amplifier has gone South?

Take it to the dealer. That should be a warranty item, shouldn't it?

Good luck.

AM reception need a good groud, it could be as simple as a loose connection or a break in the wire.

I have a 2007 Vera Cruz and had the same problem. first the dealer installed an interference kit which worked for a couple of weeks and then finally the dealer moved the antenna from somewhere down in the floor to the ceiling and the reception was significantly better. This was all done under warranty.
