I noticed that with 86 octan gas my 07 Tucson drives like crud. I just filled up with super unleaded 91 octane and wow what a difference. I have another car that runs fine with the 86 gas. i guess Hyundais are just picky.

One other question:

who here changes their own oil? I was thinking of doing it myself because i can get to the oil pan pretty easy.my only concern is the shield that runs acroiss the bottom where the oil filter is located. I see some bolts on this shield and it seems that if I take those bolts off the shiled will drop a little. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

thx
mike

Yep take the shield off and then drop the oil as it saves messin about trying to clean the shield when the oil splashes on it and it only takes a min or two to do.
By the way if you change your own oil change it to full synthetic (in the USA purple is apparently great) as you will find that the Tuc loves this oil and as it causes no friction mpg increases slightly.

If moneys a problem then semi synthetic is ok too but as the manual and Hyundai state No to Mineral oil.

Cheers Itza
