The air filter it's self has a hole in the middle of it. Is this where the air is drawn in or does it just come in through the sides of the filter? I'm guessing the sides.. I'm a computer guy/ gun smith / getting back into car audio guy. I'm just learning the engine bay so please forgive me.

An air filter shouldn't have any holes in it. But the media that the filter is made out of has micro hole in it. that is where the air is drawn through.

The hole in the center of the filter. I got it figured out though.

Nothing can be done about the wine I asked 3 people today in the city.

So Glock23, share with others what you got figured out about the hole...
My guess, it's for Ram Air Induction with a hose fitting that hole.

When I put on my SRI, I took out all pieces of the factory plastic intake, all the way down to behind the bumper. There was a LOT of extra pieces, like resonator boxes, chambers, etc. to de-modulate the intake whine produced by these engines.

Run an aftermarket intake/filter, you're gonna get whine.
But it's only at idle, once on the throttle the intake 'growls'.
