Hello.
I am new to these forums and have a couple quick questions.
First of all, I am a DIY tuner guy with several cars.
My wife has had our 2002 accent 1.6 automatic for a few years now.
I am interested in beginning down a long path of adding megasquirt to this vehicle.
Can anyone tell me some basics about the car? What are the generation codenames or nicknames that these cars have? I will do some reading on wikipedia tonight to help myself.
What are the basic strengths and weaknesses of this model? I plan to turbo and run MSnS-Extra piggybacked with the stock ECU with the stock injectors. This is a low boost setup made mostly to assist with getting on the highway more safely.
Meanwhile, Id like to get the megasquirt running ASAP and begin the long process of helping others decode the sensors. I plan to get the basic GM sensors in order to get it running easily. Eventually, I want to be able to run MSnS with boost control. In the short term Id just like to get the MS started.
My main question then is reguarding MS versions. I figured that Id end up with MS-I on a v3.0 board running 029q code. Anyone see any major objections to this? The main reason I wanted to set it up this way is that my other megasquirted vehicles run this code and Id basically have to have a second laptop to work on both cars frequently. Should I use a different setup?
What kind of crank position sensor and cam position sensors do we have? What is the stock MAP sensor range? Is this a purely speed density system, or is there an airflow meter?
One other quick one, is there an easy way to move the coolant line from the firewall passenger side of the head to the core? On my car its a big line that has a lot of excess hose, clearly the hard line points toward the drivers side, as it was produced in LHD format natively. I dont see myself needing two feet of wiggle room, and I was looking at putting my turbo there.
Also, I plan to place my turbo after the CAT, is that going to be a problem? I will have an emissions visual at somepoint in the future, I dont think I can relocate it. I know this will have some lag, but Ill deal. I dont want to melt my CAT down and blow chunks through my turbine.
I know that was a lot for a new user, I dont expect full answers to my questions, but anything anyone has... Ill take it.
