I am really looking hard at this car. Although reliability is not historically as good as Hyundai, this baby could break down every mile and I'd rather have the look of this than the Genesis.... which I love... Introducing the Suzuki Kizashi$21,000-$28,000 Direct injection four Cylinder and 300hp V6 with paddle shift. Slightly smaller than Camry, so significantly smaller than Genesis. Hybrid model to come. Several of the things I prefer over Genesis1. Price 2. Direct injection 3. Front grill 4. Rear looks more upscale, finer details and sleeker. The rear looks like the new Maserati or a beefed CLS550. 5. Shorter rear deck lid 6. Headlights 7. FLARED FENDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8. Wide and squat. Wide and squat. Wide and squat. Wide and squat. 9. Available AWD Video Clip/ Article http://carnoise.blogspot.com/2008/03/suzuk...t-2008-new.html Be sure to really watch the 2nd video clip on the page! It shows this car the best and shows the Wagon model. Several Things I don't
1. Smaller 2. Reliability and resale record of Suzuki 3. Will be using a GM power plant 4. No V8 For under $25,000 I could live with a smaller motor and add wheels and tint only. This car looks extremely upscale. I absolutly love the fat cat look. While I'd love a V8 Tech Genesis, saving $15,000 sounds real nice. Article quote "....Overall, the Kizashi 3 looks like the car the Hyundai Genesis Sedan should have been. " Overall for me? I think I just creamed a little in my pants... Laugh or not, this is one stunning alternative. I hope the fit and finish is up to snuff of Hyundai's. We just witnessed Honda and Toyota getting the living sh*t kicked out of them by these two manufacturers, point blank. Hyundai & Suzuki just took the gloves off.

QUOTE(rendezvous65 @ Aug 20 2008, 10:41 PM) It's really a Sonata competitor not a Genesis competitor.
Technically that is true, but the looks comparred to the Sonata are about 400 leagues out of its range. The Sonata is a weezer comparred to the looks and intent of this car. The Sonata may be its competitor, but few looking at the two will pit one over another. The Camry is by far a better looking car than the current Sonata, and I hate Toyotas. A black on black Camry with the right wheels looks severly more upscale and sporty than a similar Sonata. I rank the Sonata, as great a car as it is, and I believe its mechanically and fit/ finish better than a Camry, right in with the looks of the Honda Accord. A "Yawn" mobile. The Kizashi is simply awesome looking. The Sonata also does not have a 300hp direct injected AWD model, nor will it handle nearly as well since it is narrow and high off the ground. The Sonata is aimed at CPA's and sedate store managers. A family car. The Kizashi is aimed squarely at young white collar exec types, who still enjoy a midnight street fight.

QUOTE(rendezvous65 @ Aug 21 2008, 02:51 AM) http://www.leftlanenews.com/suzuki-kizashi.htmlDoesn't look as good as the concept. Still has a ton of camo though. Ha! From the apparent bulk and dimensions of the camouflaged car, the production model is going to look more like a Yaris than the Kizashi concept. Is it supposed to be a luxurious ride or pure "sporty", a college student's first new car once s/he has their first salaried job? From appearances, and descriptions, this is no competitor for Genesis OR Sonata, it's more like a swing at the Subaru WRX... only not unabashedly goofy-looking and ugly like the WRX. Or, maybe that's too strongly worded - at least this design isn't such a thought-free, tuner-in-a-can kind of cosmetic nightmare as is the WRX. But the WRX, if I recall correctly, sports a direct-injection H4 that puts out 300hp. And has AWD. And is a small sedan. And is not luxurious. And costs a lot more than this Suzuki is supposed to. So again... I'm not sure this is even supposed to be in the same ballpark as Genesis.

Ummm... hmmm.
1. Hyundai Forums both this one and Genesis Owners Forum, have VERY few posts or members for a forum of any kind. It makes sense to cross post and most people do. Go on any BMW forum and you'll see what I'm taking about. 2. What is you're point? 3. The purpose of a forum is to discuss and bring information. That's exactly what I've done.
I'm not set on anything right now, the Kizashi isn't even near being on the street. I will rent one or get one of my friends who own Hyundai and the other a Suzuki, dealership, and drive them for one day each before I make a choice. I'll park the Genesis/ Kizashi side by side, and then make a decision.
I did this with the E550, 335i and Lexus Gs, ending up with the 335i after putting 250 miles on each car. I recently did it with the Veracruz, Tahoe, Edge and Pilot.
Tesla is also coming out with a Sedan based on their roadster, which I am not booting from my picture yet either. Even though its $60,000, I may still get it. I have 15 months left on one lease and 12 on another.
I am extremely skeptical about Suzuki's crappy warranty in comparison to Hyundai's, their reliability, and the resale (to and extent.)
I have plenty of time to shop and choose.

It's simply an observation.

This thing seems to have the general dimesions as a 300C, albeit with a little softer edges and overall smaller. Nothing really special about the final production version.

No thanks.
I know two people who have had abysmal luck with Suzukis, a Grand Vitara and a Forenza. My friend owned the Forenza and it has been lemoned. Suzuki Corporate was absolutely terrible to deal with and offered absolutely no assistance for something that was their responsibility. The entire situation was handled very poorly.
I would never buy or recommend a Suzuki to anyone.
