QUOTE(v33sonata @ Aug 21 2008, 03:56 AM) Drive by the chevy dealer today and they had a new cobalt SS with a big "turbo" sign in the window. Last I knew they were slow S/C cars. well GM decided to put a turbo in instead and its fast. 13.8 1/4 mile stock!! Fastest car under 25k. We even worked numbers I was about to drop $2000 bucks and I would have been out of my sonata on the same payments on my new cobalt ss. But then I remembered....... 310hp.......... RWD......... Hyundai is just a few months away! I was walking back and forth calling all my friends! But I stopped myself and walked out with out even saying by to the sales person! He called and called Finally I answered and said "Hyundai for life" then hung up on him. He called back cracking up on my voice mail saying if I changed my mind to give him a call.
Anyways I think i need to treat myself maybe next month and buy a motorcycle :)

The new SS Cobalt's are sweet! A 4 door version is coming out soon too. But I'd get a Mazdaspeed3 instead personally. Higher resale, better quality interior, same performance. I have 2 motorcycles....which is probably why my Sonata gets driven once a week on average.....to the grocery store, errands or when I'm hauling my dogs to the beach. There's not a car produced that I'd take over either of my sportbikes....

I thought you didn't have enough money to put NOS in your car. You will have to sell a lot of those Sonata Manuals for a Cobalt SS. :) :whistling:

I'm playing. I think that was a smart choice. As for a Cobalt my friend tried using the lemon law on his for awhile and ended up trading it in for a new STi

What do you think? My guess is that everyone of the 310 hp RWD Genesis Coupes will start around $26,000.00 with dealer markups of at least $5000.00.

You'd better hope at trade in time, they don't find those videos you've posted (and we all know which ones I'm talking about!) :innocent:

QUOTE(dogstar @ Aug 21 2008, 12:42 PM) The new turbo cobalts are a a freakin BLAST, but they will blow up or fall apart soon.
The mazdaspeed3 is ok, but I would sooner get a regular 3 with the 2.3 liter engine, then use tripoint engineering's turbo kit to boost it. Cheaper than the speed3, faster and it opens up the availability of the sedan :)
And say goodbye to your warranty. I'd rather have the hatch anyway. And when you can get a Mazdaspeed3 for $22K anyway.....not worth the effort in my opinion.

When I can get a 3 year old mazda3 for $6500, I'm not too worried about warrantee. Getting a MS3 for $22,000 in Canada is a pipe dream. $30,000-35,000 is more like it, heck a mildly optioned 2.3liter 3 will set you back $25,000 before tax.

Maybe with 100K miles I guess it wouldn't matter.
