I have the same question as above. How do you replace the engine air filter for a Sonata 06 3.3 V6? I removed the clips and the box is still there. There is also a factory warning not to let dirt get into the intake. I DON'T want to pay the dealer $100 to do this. Also, just using a standard STP air filter for $20.

Anyone notice a big difference with the K&N. Is it better on gas? I don't mind upgrading to it.

When you undo the clips (either four or five of them) the lid (top of the air filter box) can be lifted up enough to get the old filter out and slide the new one in. It will be stiff since the hoses are connected to it. It may take a little whack to initially get it loose as well.

You don't have to worry about getting dirt into the intake as long as the car isn't running. You may want to use a shop vac or similar to vacuum out the debris in the bottom of the housing; no telling what you might find in there.

Great, I also took the resonator off thats in the drivers wheel well to get the most air possible in to the filter.

Got mine the other day too. Thanks for posting about the great deal!

So far not seeing any difference in mpg, but my car is definitely driving a lot better and acceleration is quicker. And I don't even have a lead foot. :)

Is anybody knows if there is compatible Amsoil EA air filter for 2,4L?
That is a real killer. Can't compare with KnA

Use this link amsoil
It says that they have one for the 2.4

I'm debating what I should buy for my 3.3L
Anybody have a good ram air system they would recommend?
I'm afraid that I'll hydro-lock my motor if i buy/make a CAI.

Amsoil has only regular WIX filter. But Amsoil EA made of nanofiber, which beats any other filters.

Looks like I'm bringing an old thread back to life...
I remember reading it but can't seem to find the thread talking about the two different sized filters for the 06 v6 sonata something about the airbox being changed from a big one to the same sized one as the 2.4L. So I was wondering if this model number k&n filter will work on the big airbox "33-2346"
Thanks in advance for your help.

I replaced mines last month and then the other day I got a check engine light and the dealership said it was a "lean code". When my dad called them and asked them what that meant they said it might have been the K&N Filter causing that problem ... WTH??? anyone get the same scenario?

I really doubt it's the filter since lean usually means too much air/not enough fuel. If it was the filter it would have shown up sooner than that, probably shortly after installing it.

If you want put a factory filter back in it and get them to reset it and see if the CEL returns. My guess is there's something deeper causing this and the CEL will return.

IMHO K&N's suck.

They filter worse than OEM paper filters and can foul up MAF sensors(see the GM TSB).

I've seen indentical cars run both K&N and OEM paper and from what I have seen the cars using a K&N filter tended to have dirtier intake tracts/manifol
