Alignment Issues - Car Vibrates at High speeds

So I installed new wheels and tires I bought from a guy and were confirmed that they were not feathers nor warped. Rode on them and the ride was very smooth.

Took the car in to get the tires balanced and TPMS sensors installed and tires professionally balanced and afterward, car vibrates at higher speeds. Car mechanic stated that I needed new camber for right side and lower ball joint for the left side. This was good to hear seeing that other place almost did not pass me for inspection because they said I needed a lower ball joint, as well, the driver side tires were wearing from the inside out. "Which is why I bought the new set of rims and tires"

So, after searching through the threads, I found a guy who replaced his upper ball joints with adjustable ones to fix the camber issue. So I ordered the new upper ball joints and the lower. Had them installed by a shop then took it back to where I had it aligned for them to re-align it again since it is under warranty for a year.

SO now even after the balance, alignment and all, it still vibrates at higher speeds. So I have my wife take it back today and they tell her "looks like the rotors, we see where you changed the pads but not the rotors"?!?!? I did change the pads and not the rotors but it was back in December...did not have any vibration.

I was planning to switch out the rotors and pads soon because my OEM are rusted up but anyways...could the rotos really be causing the vibration?

I know the new wheels are heavier being chrome, and I know the tires are practically new and even worn. So could me having new even worn, non warped rims and tires be showing me things that my older cupped inside uneven worn tires compensated for?

Its like the new tires are showing me issues the oem ones were hiding.

What size are the new wheels and tires?

If I'm reading your post correctly you say that the new wheels and tires were fine when you first put them on but the problems started after you had TPMS sensors installed and then had the new wheels and tires rebalanced. If that's the case then it seems that the shop that did that work for you messed something up. Maybe they have not been balanced properly after the sensors were installed.

So I may have to retract my statement....looks like my wife may of left out some valuable information about the visit back to the shop. Just called and got the rundown for myself from the actual mechanic...here it is. Long story short...there may be luck after all. Have to get home and take it for a spin.

SOOOOOO I decided to call and get the rundown of just exactly what he did:

  1. Actually noticed that I put new ADJUSTABLE upper ball joints on (important piece of info because those are what allowed him to fix the camber issue…whoever did it on Saturday did not notice they were ADJUSTABLE). So he actually noticed it and actually fully 100% corrected my camber and also learned for the next time someone brings it in, how to adjust adjustable ball joints.
  2. Found that 2 of the right tires were off balance slightly so he re-balanced all 4
  3. Saw that my Caster is just slightly forward on right side but will not cause any uneven wear on tires.
  4. Lastly…saw brake pads were replaced but not rotors so he felt a small slight vibration when stopping not driving.

1.

Basically…if you don’t know what Camber is, camber is the part that fixed the tires from leaning in on out. Basically I had a negative camber on driver side which was wearing the inside of the tires. And Caster is what adjusts how far forward/backward the tire is inside the wheel well. And he got my toe lined up right. He said it was his/their first time dealing with adjustable ball joints which took him some time to figure out…but glad I brought it through so now he understands for the next person that comes in.

Hey guys, need some advice. I Am bumping this thread as I am having major wobbling issues on my steering wheel. I am trying to pre-diagnose what could be wrong before i take it in the shop.

So I had Evo-v12s from Hankook all around but had two flat tires right at the sidewall so there was no way to fix it...so I just bought use tires and put those in the front as they had more threads of course.

The back hankooks are basically almost bald.

Just lately (say about 2 months after I put in these other tires up front) I am getting really annoying vibration and wobbling on my steering wheel. I actually thought I Had flat tires but sure enough, I do not. All the psi's are identical all around.

I went to discount tired to balance them since i bought the original tires from there; of course they didn't want to do it because they were certain that it's the bald tires in the back that is causing the vibration - i.e. the car is no longer riding flat like it's suppose to.

I don't disagree, I am planning on getting 18s so I need to wait on the proper rims to match.

My question is, could this be something worst? I kinda checked the rotors and torque spec on the wheels and nothing seems to be out of place.

It gradually got worst which makes me think it is a tire / balance / tread issue.

What do you guys think?

Steering wheel wobble while rolling is a perfect sign the tread is not flat/roll smooth (tread deform) or bent wheel

With tires off ground, let run in gear and watch the tread as it go around..

I have the same problem...wheel vibration at high speed.
At lower speed...up to 100km/h ok, but after that vibration.

I took the wheels twice for balancing...all good.
The problem turn out to be the wheel rims. It's coming from a Honda Accord and the wheel hub is a small bit smaller.

So check your rims first IF it's not Hyundai rims

Thanks for the tips guys. It's the originals rims and I'm positive it's not a bent rim issue sine I'm the only one who drives the car. I think it really is the rear wheels going baled unevenly even maybe. I will swap to front and see . I actually need new tires bad so I may just get two for now until I get enough money to upgrade to 18s.
