wanted to post this as i just changed the oil on my 04 santa fe with the 2.4L....i wanted to see for myself by slowly pouring 3 quarts in with new filter- then starting motor shutting off after 2 minutes then waiting 2 minutes and checking the level on the stick. was shocked to learn that the capacity must only be 3.5 quarts since it was down only a half quart. this would account for the many reports i have read of valve cover and other oil leaks on these motors. it is especially likely as many oil change places just pump in at least 4 quarts no matter what vehicle is driven in....
